Sustainability

At María la Paz we create products that respect people and the world in which we live. We are not perfect, but we strive to improve every day.

We believe in an integral ecology, which involves social, environmental and economic aspects.

Social ecology

Our most important value is people. Both the people we dress and the people who work with us.

That's why we create long-term relationships with our employees and suppliers. We have workshops that have been sewing for us for more than 28 years and we support them from the beginning to grow, to buy new machines and also in more personal aspects such as the education and health of their children.

Environmental ecology

As part of our commitment to the environment, we are working so that our fabrics are mostly ecological.

All our denim garments have certifications and sustainable processes:

  • 90% reduction in the use of fossil fuels
  • Reuse of 40% of water
  • Reuse of thermal energy
  • Reuse of gases from boilers
  • State-of-the-art water treatment
  • Chemical suppliers in accordance with the most demanding legislation
  • Use of aniline-free dyes
  • Dyeing techniques that save 80% of water in the process
  • State-of-the-art equipment
  • ZDHC certification
  • BCI certification

Since the Spring Summer 2020 collection, all our denim fabrics are certified with the Better Cotton Initiative organization. That means that the cotton used for those fabrics is 100% organic.

We also have fabrics with ECO DYE, which implies that they use ecological dyes with low water consumption and in which 90% of the water is recycled. And some of our fabrics are EKO, that means they are made with recycled cotton fibres.
